Message from ODP Chairman David Pepper:
Despite a tough night, 2016 did accomplish our critical goal of constructing a large party infrastructure—with thousands of new activists and volunteers, along with passionate staff– that can fuel all of our collective efforts in ’17, ’18 and beyond.
To build on this foundation immediately, and channel the enormous energy we have seen since November 8, the Ohio Democratic Party will be hosting organizing meetings around the state in December. The ‘CAN’ meetings—standing for Concrete Action Now–will allow us to discuss findings and lessons learned in the Presidential election, begin a return to the Obama neighborhood organizing model over the course of 2017, establish the Activist Action plan, and announce our Community Conversations for Ohio Tour for 2017. These organizational meetings will include our party leadership, ward leaders, precinct representatives, and 2016 coordinated volunteers. The goal of each meeting is to begin taking action now to build a sustainable organization to win at the local level and be ready for a neighborhood-based organizing structure that will help us take advantage of the enormous opportunities of 2018.
We would like to work on these in partnership with our county parties to ensure that everyone who should be invited is contacted. These will be conducted regionally and the dates, counties, and assigned ODP organizers of your area CAN meeting is listed below.
Thank you in advance for your willingness to participate in our Concrete Action Now organizational meetings and helping to fulfill the 1618 plan to make Ohio blue.
